Best products for bringing out white in flea bitten grey?

We use Mrs Stuarts Bluing. It is usually found in the laundry aisle of the grocery store. A small blue bottle that goes a long way and is inexpensive. We've used it for over 40 years. First, the horse gets rinsed with a white vinegar/water solution, then the bluing is applied. I like to premix it in a bucket of warm water with a mild shampoo for horses. You can wash the whole horse with this. Do not let this dry on the horse! Follow up with another white vinegar/water rinse, then spray down with show sheen. The horse will now be pearlescent.

Any whitening shampoo the is purple should work pretty well. Purple neutralizes yellow. Also try baby powder on the lower legs if they are white also. I have a flea bitten grey and it works pretty well. Chevalinternational.com has a feed supplement that is for white horses. I haven't tried it because my gelding is just a pleasure horse and not for show but I would think it would be worth a shot. Also try leaving the shampoo in for a few minutes to help dissolve the yellow, but not too long or he'll end up purple too. Mrs. Stuarts Blueing is a good shampoo. You'll have to do a search to find it on the net but I have used it before and it workes really well on the lower legs and tail.

I have a palomino pinto and I know all to well your dilema. There are a few products that work good. You can use cowboy magic which is a spray. That works pretty good for touch ups. You can also use a new product by farnam called white n' bright. It is a shampoo that you can hook up to your hose. That works pretty well. Then you can also use the quick silver which I think works best. It is a purple shampoo and will make your horse look great. You can also use a mixture of laundry blueing and human hair shampoo. I use that on my mustangs socks and it looks wonderful.

This is some of the best stuff I have found. I went from a tack cart filled with every shampoo and conditioner on the market to a tack bucket with just these products and it has made a world of difference in my horses. Makes the white on my paints nearly blinding. Good Luck

Any of the whitening shampoos work pretty well. They don't seem to help my flea-bitten mare with yellow spots and tail. I recently used Palmolive dishwashing detergent with "bleach alternative". My mare sparkled! No yellow spots, just white. I used a coat conditioner afterwards and applied a heavy conditioner in the mane and tail. :)

White and bright works really well. Also when you use a shampoo like that if you leave it on for like 10 min then rinse it off it works much better.

I don't know any shampoos and stuff, but read descriptions on different shampoos to find what you are looking for. Make sure your horse has no allergies, then experiment with different brands and products. To bring out a white tail, rub chalk or baby powder on it, it will really stand out. Hope this helps!!

A great product is "White Night" and "Quick Silver" They are concentrates and help bring out the white in a horse from their socks to their body. You can find this in a tack shop and on line

but you have to watch and not leave it on to long or you will end up with purple shades and spots on the grey coat.

Dilute it a little if you are doing a whole body, or use straight for the legs .. just watch the length it stays on the hair

My friend uses "white n' brite" Its really good for her fleabitten grey gelding! I use it on my horse's white markings and it is GREAT! She goes into the show ring with blinding white socks and face markings! Its amazing!
