ATTN: HARRY POTTER ♥ fans♥: serious question on book 7-spoiler-?

I don't understand one part of the storyline. Why couldn't dumbledore let harry know that when Lord Voldermort tries to kill him it will only kill the bit of sould inside Harry. Why did Harry need to think that when he gives himself up to Lord Voldermort he will die? Dumbledore could've told that to Snape at least, no? What was the need of keeping it secret and Harry thinking that he has to die in order for Voldermort to die too. Explain, please.

Thanks!

I think because Harry had to be willing to die and willing to face death on his own. If Dumbledore had told him then he would know that he truly wasn't facing death. If Dumbledore hadn't made the journey difficult for Harry- "[Harry's] hot head might dominate [his] good heart.....if presented with the facts [Harry might] try to seize the Hallows...at the wrong time for the wrong reasons" (p.720). Dumbledore also says that Harry is the true master of death "because the true master does not seek to run away from death.....he accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying" (p.720-721).

I hope this helps- try re-reading ch. 35, King's Cross- here's where Dumbledore explains everything.

This is a very good question. The reason why he didn't let Harry know that he would survive is because he was willing to die in order to destroy Voldemort, just like Lily Potter was ready to die to protect Harry. When Lily did this, she put a sort of an enchantment. And since Voldemort used Harry's blood, it is inside him as well. And with the enchantment and his willingness to die to, not only have anyone else die, but to destory Voldemort broke the seventh Horcrux inside of him. If Dumbledore had told Harry that he would survive, then Harry would not be willing to die for anyone, since he knew he would survive. He had to go into the battle thinking and believing fully that he would die in order to protect everyone else or else it would not have worked.

The reason Dumbledore did not tell him was because harry walked willing to death thinking that it would kill him totally but if Dumbledore had told Harry then Harry might not have gone and done what he did and soo Dumbledore was really just trying to think kind of how Harry and his dad had acted soo Dumbledore was just trying to look out for everybody using what info. that he already had known and seen.

    Hope it helps!!!!!!!!!!

Dumbledore thought that Harry would die. Not for sure, but he couldn't be certain of what would happen when Harry attempted to kill Voldemort.

I think it has something to do with becoming the true master of death. He has to fully accept death and not think that he will survive. Dumbledore told one person about the horcruxes, Harry, and he allowed Harry to tell His two close friends. He told no one else, it needed to be a secret.

ok DUMBLEDORE dies in 0.5 blood prince so he can not tell Harry his stuff is going to be waiting for him in e book 7. additionally they bypass see Slughorn in e book 6. The scene ought to be from the latest hbp trailer i think of replaced into released final week. I heard with reference to the attack on the Burrow so possibly they are putting the marriage in action picture 6 while the DE's attack on the top. which would be a reliable place to start action picture 7 pt a million while Harry, Hermione and Ron escape.

I don't think DD was certain that Harry wouldn't die. While at "King's Cross" it seems, Harry still had the option of going on in death or returning to life.

By being willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone else, it gave the same enchantment to all those at Hogwarts that Lily had given to him.

if dumbledore told harry that he wont really die, only the part of voldemort that is inside him, then harry would go to meet voldemart knowing he wont die and then it would not have worked, the way it worked was because harry went there prepared and knowing to die so if he would have known he wasnt going to die, then the part of voldemort inside wouldnt have died because that was only removed becuase harry went prepared to die.

It seems to be a thread through all the books...that someone is willing to die for someone else.

Just seems natural Harry should be willing, too, and that's why he wasn't told...In fact, he HAD to be willing.

Kinda' interesting, huh? Read the last few chapters again...
