Gurgling on my right side?

I have a gurgling noise that happens on my right hand side just around the bottom of my ribs. This only happens when I am lying on my left side. It is very annoying and can happen right after food or hours after eating. It sounds gurgling and bubbling and has been going on now for a few months. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Update:

I have had 2 endoscopies. 1st one found an ulcer 2nd one found a hiatal hernia but no ulcer. i am waiting to go again because I am anaemic and the Doc doesn't know why. I also take 20-40mg omeprazole daily. That will be 3 endoscopy in 3 yrs.

I have researched this and found a few interesting websites.

It can simply be food digesting to conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If you are overly concerned I suggest that you visit a GP for a diagnosis. All the best.

My partner gets this when he is trying to sleep. It's the digestive system doing it's work. Your digestive system sits under your rib cage so its normal. Your stomach acid is making the gurgling I'd persume. If you feel sick and have poo upsets see your doctor. My partner has a bowel problem too.

If there is pain or discomfort, get a check up. You have to rule out gallbladder problems and gastric or duodenal ulcer.

It may be related to your food. Something doesn't agree with you.

Try any antacids with MPS that is antiflatulent, it will reduce gas formation & help you.

    Good luck!

Ps- It cld b comforting u to note that many times the sound is not audible to others.

First thought was stomach digesting as I had it also and medical people suggest if you have other health related symptions( dont think I spelled that correctly) have a check up ,allowing for other problems like heart.

Hi!! this could be caused by fluid in the pleura arising from some irritation that might cause pleurisy. what ever it might be see a G.P. immediately. Any condition that effects the chest/lung areas should be dealt with this way.

It's the acids in your stomach/intestines doing the work to break down your food. As long as you're not experiencing any pain, you should be fine. If that changes, go see your doctor.
