Son was circumcised 3 days ago already called doctor have an appt. at 1:45 but am nervous it's not bleeding a lot but a small amount, running temp. of 99.4 and not eating as well as normal. Has this happened to anyone and what was the outcome? Should I bring him to the ER now or wait for appt.? Thanks so much in advance!

Babies do not have very much blood! They can not lose very much before they are in serious trouble.

Get him to the ER NOW!

Outcome? Baby boys have bled to death after "circumcisions". It doesn't take a diaper full of blood, the loss of only the amount of a grape can cause him to die.

This is one of the many things that can and do go wrong when babies are mutilated.

Most all babies that have been circumcised will bleed some for up to a week sometimes after the procedure. If it's bleeding/spotting some, don't panic, this is normal as the foreskin was trimmed off. It would not be normal not to bleed some. Just keep some neosporin around the excision/cut and remember to keep the remaining skin pushed back so that there is a little space between the line of excision and the head to keep it from growing back and sticking to the head again. In a couple of weeks it will be well worth it.

The loss of appetite is normal. If you just had a good portion of your labia removed you would be sore and cranky too. The temp may be normal, its the body's way of fighting infection and promoting healing. The diaper may have rubbed the site and started the bleeding. So long as its only a very small amount I would not worry about it, however if it is substantial then take him to the ER. I am sure that this is the same thing that your Dr. will say, but by all means keep the appointment. Only the dr can see the child and determine his health. GOOD LUCK! and DON'T WORRY! but is good that you are concerned!

It's normal, I was circumcised as an adult and I too experienced a little bleeding after my circumcison procedure. Like some of the other mothers have said make sure lubricated so it doesn't stick to the diapers. Although his temperture is slightly higher than normal, I don't think this is a major problem It could be from over dressing. However, if you go to the doctor him pretty sure he/she will tell you the same thing. I hope I could help ease your worry. Good luck.

Hopefully the doctor can check it out. Should be ok, but remember to put vaseline and gauze on it when you put the diaper on! You don't want the diaper pulling any scabbing or anything off it.

It should be ok, even if it's infected a little. The doctor will tell you. I don't think you have to go to the ER.

Also, as a man, and a father of two boys, I can tell you that a circumcision is absolutely necessary. But that's another topic and question...

Wait for the appointment. sounds like a nervous 1st time mom.

99.4 is a slight temp 5 days old, wouldn't hurt to get in a see the doc any way. the circumcision for boys/men reduces the risk of cervical cancer for his wife when he reaches that age. Uncircumcised men have higher incidences of carrying diseases and bacterial infections.

Doctor will likely tell you to dress the wound with bacitracin or tribiotic ointment. (not vaseline alone.)

Our son (now 15 bled from his circ.) just enough to spot the diaper.

Easy does it, don't panic. You'll be pulling your hairout when he is a teen (like I am.).

well my boys all had blood and crust around the sight and if you don't put enough vaseline it gets stuck to the diaper area

    and can cause bleeding

um the temp could be something, but i really don't hink its much to worry about i mean 99 is realy nothing

    normal is 98.7

make sure you aren't over dresing him, he should have on only a sleeper, and a light blanket

anything more is too hot, if you need AC so does he,

an easy way to tell is his hands should be cool to the touch and his belly warm

if the hands are warm then too much clothes,

make sure you are properly cleaning his belly button aswell

wipe the crust off around it every diaper change ok

and don't be afraid to really wipe.

If you want to talk email me

and i'm expecting again, hope it a girl this time

Source(s): oh and the eating is normal aswell they get tired after the first week and need alot more sleep, trust me , sleep when he sleeps, and feed him on demand its the best for everyone.

Unless its gushing blood or has yellow crust around it, it sounds normal.

My son bled for a few days after his not gushing or anything but just little bits. You have to move it around and clean it to keep it from getting infected and since its a cut, it will get irritated and bleed from time to time until it's healed better.

And the fever, is not really a fever, its a low grade if anything and could be from crying or being over bundled.

Keep your appt, no need for the ER.

As for the eating, not all babies eat the same everyday, their appetite fluctates daily so I wouldnt worry unless he refuses to eat completely.

It's his body's way of healing. It's very low-grade so I wouldn't worry, just go to the doctor to make sure everything is fine.

Our son's bled a little bit for a week after. Make sure you push the skin back so it will not reattach at every diaper change and put vaseline on it with gauze over the top of that to keep it moist.

    Good luck sweetie!

i think you should wait. he is not feeling will because of the circumcision so he will not be eating as usual. but you did the right thing ,calling the doctor
