Universal viewpoint?
Does anyone know what this mean, specifically in writing? I never heard of that term. But a friend of mine brought it up.

I think perhaps he is referring to the "omniscient" viewpoint, where the narrator sees everything that goes on, and is even privy to the private thoughts of the characters. For example:
"Jane got home from school late that day. She was concerned about all the homework she had. She went into her room, closed the door, and began studying."

These Guys have got it all wrong. The Universal viewpoint deals with the Spiritual, and metaphysical, and well being of the soul. It is the teaching of oneness with God that leads to the very essence of genuine understanding. This is practice in Asia in the temple of Buddha and in other Theological Studies. Hermeneutics and Method: The "Universal Viewpoint" by Bernard Lonergan speak on this.

I think it's what Jim Pettis said. It's like when you have first person narration, and everything is happening in the viewpoint of one person, the main character, you know? Third person is basically the same as universal. The person narrating knows absolutely everything going on. I tried googling it, but I couldn't find anything, so.... Let's just go with what he said?
