Now that I have everyone mad about gas prices!?

How many of you are going to keep in the back of your minds when you buy something how much you are really paying for it. Verses how much taxes hidden and direct you are paying when you buy. That includes everything from gasoline to toothpaste.

Puts a whole new light on the fleecing of America by government doesn't it?

Update:

Yeah I know it is Sunday and I am making you all pi$$ed because I am making you think.

I am not angry as you are absolutely right. Depending on where you live, direct taxes(federal and local) exceed 40 cents a gallon--and would be the lowest side of the range.Add in the hidden taxes(EPA requirements, business taxes, etc.)figure in the cost of living increases since 1960 or so, and in actual monies, we are paying about the same as then. As Private citizens, if we ran our finances as the government does, there would be no government.California and many other states reflect higher taxes.
