what to do in vancouver bc with a free afternoon?
I'm on a business trip, have this afternoon free (and want away from my coworker!)...any suggestions for things to do in Vancouver BC? I'm at 12th and Cambie, with no bike or car, so have to walk or take transit

Sounds like you will be at the Plaza 500. There are many shops on Broadway if you just want to browse but I go along with the trip to Granville Island if you can. Lots if little shops and a very interesting market with a fairly decent selection of food, both booth and restaurant, if you are feeling hungry. It is very easy to spend several hours there and still wish you had more time. The hotel can give you transit directions as I generally take my car down that way although parking there can be a problem (which you will not have to worry about). Try www.granvilleisland.com for information on the area. I would not recommend Stanley Park or the Aquarium (which is in Stanley Park) although they are very nice. If you have limited time give them a pass as they can be up to 1/2 hour away depending on traffic.

I loved Stanly Park. I was there years ago for business as well and I took my roller blades and ended up going the wrong way in the park and got yelled at many times to turn the other way. It was fun though and there is a Zoo in the park. You can also check out the Marina as well its not far from the park at all. You can also look at all the shops downtown as well I loved walking around there as well when I was free of meetings. One great thing I loved about that City was with how big it was it still was clean and I mean clean compared to City's in the USA that are that big. So have a great time when you can.

If you only have one afternoon, I say go to the Vancouver Aquarium. You can get there easily by bus from where you're at.
