    Yawning is a normal response to fatigue and drowsiness, but excessive yawning can be caused by a vasovagal reaction. This reaction is caused by the action of a nerve, called the vagus nerve, on the blood vessels. It may indicate a heart problem.

    Actually, yes. Yawning is not caused from sleepiness, as most people think, but rather a subconscious inability to breath properly. Interestingly, because people follow habits, yawning usually occurs at the same time each day. The next time your 'yawning escape' happens, take note of whether you have gotten in too comfortable a position, be it sitting in an easy chair, staring at a computer screen, or driving. When it happens, change your sitting position, roll down a window, or stand up and move around. The main thing is to force yourself to breath properly.

    Most people yawn when they're tired, like they could just be in need of a nap to help get them through the day...

    Depending what your doing (or not doing) as in just lazing around, how much sleep your getting and if your actually sleeping soundly when you do sleep (or if its restless sleep).....

    All these things play a factor as to whether your really rested enough.

    Also, you may not be breathing deeply enough to get sufficient oxygen to the brain, so it tells your body to Yawn because this draws in more oxygen to the brain.

    Are you exausted too? If so, a Dr. might send you to a sleep clinic after taking blood to check for vitamin deficiencies,etc. 1st.

    Yawning can be the body trying to get blood to the brain. It could be a health problem. Get an exam, and blood work. A friend had a thyroid problem, and was always yawning. Or it could be as simple as needing more exercise.

    Yes, it may mean you have a sleeping disorder...I would get it checked out. It may seem like something simple,,,just yawning....but it could indicate a more serious problem..unless you are staying up too late every night and and are not getting enough rest..if that is the case...stop it!

    I yawn a lot myself, you may need more sleep, or you may need some caffeine to get you going. If you are very concerned about it consult your doctor!

    It's pretty abnormal, when it comes to your body's system - especially your lungs and stomach.
