NASCAR Hardball: Why No Fine For Working on Car During Red Flag??
NASCAR once again shows its inconsistency by not fining the 29 car of Richard Childress Racing. During the red flag at Watkins Glen the 29 crew were working on the car until Felix Sabates asked NASCAR officials if the rules had changed regarding working on cars during a red flag. the penalty for working on the car under the red flag is a one lap penalty and they must stop working. It does not include a fine. If the official had seen them actually working not just looking, then the lap penalty should have been imposed

I'm just glad it wasn't any of the HMS teams or people would have been looking to ban them for the rest of the year. I was wondering the same thing though, but you see that NASCAR is extremely inconsistent with penalties.

All i am going to say is because it was RCR. Isnt that twice that this team has gotton away without a penalty? Once for swearing and once for working on the car under red flag. Must be some good talkers at RCR. Maybe Stewart and JR should get a mask that looks like Harvick and they wont picked on so much.

My guess would have to be that no official saw the work being performed. I heard the interview with Sabates whan he said that, and wondered the same thing. No one must have seen it......

Im sure they knew beacause it was on the radio and on tv and if the officals didnt know then they werent doin there jobs like they should be.

I saw that too, and I was confused about why NASCAR was letting them do that. They shouldn't have gotten away with that.

There should have been a fine for that. Those are the rules and they were broken.
