My grandpa was just taken to the hospital due to high bp 232 over ? and this is after 3 nitro pills?
and 2 applications of nitro paste. My aunt (who is an RN) is with him but the hospital he is going to is lousy. I don't know what to expect. This is not the first time he has gone to hospital for high BP but normally nitro brings it down. Does anyone have any experince with this?

People can sustain very high blood pressure for short periods of time but he cannot keep going with it this high.
I am surprised he is using Nitro Paste - thought that was stopped years ago - havent seen it around for 15 years in Australia as it has been replaced with sublingual spray or sublingual tablets (under the tongue).
The hospital will initially treat his BP to bring it to safe levels then determine what is causing the hypertension and work on fixing that.
He should be taking medications daily to prevent the high BP rather than relying on the paste when it is high.
His prognosis wil all depend on why he has the hypertension to begin with and if it is able to be controlled. The risk of having a stroke with it being this high on a consistent basis is high.
There are lot of treatment options for him.

I am surprised he was still going. That is pretty unhealthy and is going to kill him if he doesn't get it down. Is he overweight also, he should be taking meds to control the blood pressure till it within reason, and avoid any excitement that would cause it to raise.
