Do you think Cartoon Network will pull and MTV?
By that I mean with shows like "Saul of the Mole Men", "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" and to some degree "Out of Jimmy's Head" will they stop showing cartoons like MTV stopped showing music videos?
Oops, "will pull an MTV?" - sorry should have proofed better.
Oh, and don't give me that crap about it being Adult Swim and not CN.
Secret - The difference is that MTV's shows have nothing to do with music, Scifi's programming is still science fiction. I would hope that CN makes more original programming. If I want to watch old Hanna Barbarra stuff I'll watch Boomerang.

I think like any television network, the Cartoon Network wants to eventually feature only their own programming full time. When you're forced to buy rights to other people's programming you lose a bit of money due to royalties, so you would much rather produce your own materials so that you reap all the profits, especially when it comes to merchandising.
MTV and the Sci Fi channel are both examples of this. MTV stopped howing music videos and starting airing their own shows for the soul purpose of owning the rights to their own production and then selling the swag for it, where the real money is. Sci Fi has rights to the likes of Babylon 5, Andromeda, Mutant X, and other other shows that other companies made, but they eventually phased those out and replaced them with their own programming like Battlestar Galatica, Stargate, and a host of bad movies that they made themselves just so that they can keep their own profits.
Unfortunately, I don't think the Cartoon Network is any different. Ten years from now, if they're still around, it will be wall to wall their own programming.
