Slight vibration in steering wheel?
Ok bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2 months ago. Had vibration in steering wheel. Replaced the two front tires( back ones were new). That helped. But still have a slight vibration in steering wheel. Took to repair shop everything ok. Could it be there tires? They are Good year wrangles. I have heard bad things about Good Year. Any suggestions? Also took back to tire shop to make sure they were balanced correctly.

Make sure they balanced the tires correctly, are weights on the outside of the rim as well as inside the rim?If you see no weights on the outside of rim the wheels probably are not balanced correctly. If balanced correctly try getting a steering stabilizer.

Ok,,And I like Good Year and have good luck with them,,but nothing is always perfect.
Jack up the front end of your truck. And hold it up with jack stands!!!
Leave in two week drive.
Take a hammer or block of wood and place VERY NEAR the tire, and manually rotate the tire. What you are looking for is an out of round tire. Now, it may move in and out a little, perhaps 3/32" and still be OK, but much more than that, they are out of round. As you rotate the tires also look for them not rolling straight and slightly weaving back and forth as they rotate.
Next, grab the tires on top and bottom...UH>>YOU DID USE JACK STANDS RIGHT????
Try to move the tire in a vertical plain. It should not move in the vertical plain or your wheel bearings are going or ball joints. Look for where the movement is coming from.
Truck on the ground, with a helper, have them rock, not turn, the steering wheel. and look for or feel for movement at the various steering joints.

1. its a 4x4 so it will never be as smooth as a normal car and you will get vibrations mainly at speed, but it should not b that bad, if the tires are balanced then i would get the suspension arms and the steering rack checked, is there any play in the steering wheel, also it could b the bearings in the wheel that are on the way out, if so wen you jack the car up there wil be play in the wheels

I had the same problem with my Liberty, but it was worse when I hit the breaks. Changed my front rotors and pads and it went away. My rotors were worped. They still had alot of meat on the pads and rotors, but if the rotors are bad nothing you could do but change them. LOL, If you hit the breaks and it shakes worse, thats your problem.

...sounds like your "tires" are out of balance....
