When you leave to go somewhere for a few days why does it feel like your always forgetting something?
we were going out of town for a few day and i kept thinking and thinking if i forgot something, made sure the oven was off, we had everything we needed, but even 20 miles down the road i kept feeling like i forgot something, then when we left the hotel to come home i kept thinking we forgot something at the hotel..it drove me crazy, anyone else do this?

Yes - it means that you are a homeloving person and want to come back to it without it being burned down or something! - it's natural and nice. That's the oven bit.
The other bits are things that belong to you and mean something to you too - if they didn't you wouldn't be taking them away and you don't want to leave them behind either - don't worry - it's called being human!!!

I use to feel that way, though not quite as obsessed as you are. I have always felt I could buy whatever I forgot when I got there, other than my medicines. Now I make a list and just before I go, I check everything off so I don't worry about it anymore. As far as the hotel, after everthing is out I always go back, open every drawer, look behind every door and all through the bathroom and under the beds. Usually covers everything.

I do it all the time, even if I'm just going to my mom's (20 minutes away). Went to my baby shower yesterday and felt all day like I forgot something, even though I don't think I did.
I have no idea why it happens unless maybe you get so busy preparing and then your brain can't get out of that mode, so even after you're gone it's saying, "No, go back, we weren't done yet!!!"

Yea, It gets on my nerves so I make lists after lists to make sure that I didn't forget anything or I would never get out the door.

yes, i do it all the time....heck...i do it just to go to the store. when i'm about to get in my car i remember that i left something inside the house, so i come back in and it takes me about 3 or 4 times to actually leave the house without coming back and forth. =/ (my husband says that i always leave things in "LetiLand" and it's true.) lol

Cuz we always think we forget something and we're worried about forgetting something.
