no cookies have nothing to do with files. Cookies are the places where you go online and have clicked "remember me" so it automatically remembers your password and usernames and stuff. If you delete those which is a good idea from time to time, then you'll just have to reenter passwords and stuff when you go to those sites.

The cookies are actually a line added to a file called cookies.txt. When you delete cookies, the lines from that file are deleted.

The temporary internet files would be the stored jpg's, gif's, html pages, etc. These are stored to make sites load quicker next time.

No, you don't have to -- they are distinct from one another.

Cookies are a special type of file that store your login & preferences information for various websites. Temporary internet files are the images & other files that your computer saves to speed loading times for webpages you might re-visit.

I've found that deleting temporary internet files can free up a lot of hard disk space and is useful to do on occasion. I rarely delete cookies because in a lot of cases they're useful (and don't take up much space).

Deleting cookies only removes information used by sites you visited in the past. If you go back to those sites you will need to reenter the information that was stored in the cookie. exp. if you go to Yahoo and enter your zip code to get the weather. Deleting temp files is a good thing as these are useless and take up resources. You will also want to clear out your history in your web browser to reduce the number of resources your web surfing requires. If your on a PC (not a mac) Run diskcheck and disk defragmenter to further clean up your hard drive and make it run more efficiently.

It is considered "Best Practice" to delete both "Cookies" and the TIF (Temporary Internet Files) periodically. I recommend opening Internet Explorer, and doing the following:

    > Click on the "Help" menu

    > Click on "Contents and Index"

    > Under the "Index" tab, type "cookies" (without quotes, and you will see several topics appear in the list)

    > Double-click on a topic you are interested in and it will appear on the right-hand side of the window

    Then,

    > Type in "temporary" (without quotes)

This is often the best way to find out information about a program that you are using.

    HTH :-)

Temporary internet files are like the pictures that download onto your computer when you visit a site, and are temporarily saved to make loading quicker when you revisit the site. Cookies are parcels of text sent by a server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server. HTTP cookies are used for authenticating, tracking, and maintaining specific information about users, such as site preferences and the contents of their electronic shopping carts

Cookies have no connection with the deletion of files. You can check all the boxes to clear all the private data if required

Yes it'll make your computer run a little faster and even save you some space. You should always clear your cookies and cache, about every other day... you do that by clicking the clear cookies, and temp. internet files.

You delete information that is stored for example your passwords any information that you have input during the time period

Also if you want a program just to do that and clear any other Problems then Use CCleaner

it will make your computer run faster because you are not storing useless info on it.... you don't have to delete the files but I would if I were you.... every website you look ate has pictures, text, ect. and that info is stored on your comp so the next time you bring up that site it will load faster but it takes up a lot of memory.
