Does anyone know the difference between a dry cleaner "drop" store and a "plant" store?
I'm researching the dry cleaner industry...any information would help. Thanks a million.

A drop store is a satellite location that collects the laundry for transportation to the larger, plant facility. The plant is much larger facility that does the cleaning, pressing and repair work. Finished garments are then trucked back to the drop stores for customer pickup.
Drop stores are also called feeders.
I hope this helps.

The dry cleaning 'drop' store is basically a collection site where clothing is collected and then sent to an outside source for the actual dry-cleaning operation.
The 'plant' store has the actual workings whereby your clothing is dry cleaned at the site. I prefer the 'plant' sites personally, there's less chance of getting my stuff lost or mixed up.
Hope this helps.
