Where does Bush get off invoking Vietnam to justify his Iraq war?
I want to know where he gets off invoking Vietnam to justify his war in Iraq? This from a guy who went out of his way to avoid having to actually serve his country in Vietnam, and who got daddy's friends to pull strings to keep him from anything other than a cushy state side post.

Since the end of Vietnam and in the years that followed - it became more than apparent, even to the politicians and military staff who supported and approved it, that it was, in total, tragic in every conceivable manner and totally doomed to failure. The loss of American & allied lives criminal in the extremene
Those who objected, primarily the young generation, their parents who'd served / lived thru WW11, and many serving militay sent to Vitnam, ultimately being vindicated in the years that followed.
That Bush now invokes such tragic failure to support Iraq, a total failure in every respect, only serves to engender that he should not in any way have been re-elected to his 2nd term of office.
Muted across the Wold, ignored by countless Americans.
America got what it voted for! The tragedy all to apparent as the years progressed.

Gee I'm pretty sure your side has invoked Vietnam several times already, remember? As far as pulling out, when we prematurely left the Nam we caused hundreds of thousands to die at the hands of the communists. And if you read history, you will realize the reason we "lost" in the Nam, was Cronkite. When he declared the war lost after Tet, the public stopped supporting the war. However the north viets had their back broken at Tet and we could have finished them. Today's media just wants to be a bunch of Cronkite's, that's all. Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it......

Whether or not Bush went to Vietnam is totally irrelevant to the question of whether or not Vietnam helps justify the Iraq war.

It is a fair comparisson. After the USA pulled out of Viet Nam, thousands were slaughtered, the lucky ones were left homeless and destitute, but alive. Others were sent to re-education camps where torture to instill propoganda was the norm. And thousands of Eurasian children were sent to internment camps. Do you think something like this won't happen in Iraq, and that Al Qaeda will treat the Iraqi populace with respect and friendship.

President Bush volunteered to go to Vietnam. They didnt want him. To say he was avoiding duty is a bold face lie. But then you dont really care about the truth. you just want to insult the President. So what military unit did you volunteer for?

Where do *you* get off ignoring his point and ignoring the lessons of history. This from a guy who makes posts on the internet instead of trying to make the world a better place...

He's making his point. Liberals just don't understand. They think we can just pull out now with no consequences.
