$35-40 DIY go to Auto Zone and get the kit / R134a freon recharge and retrofit kit. $35.99 plus tax depending on where you live.

You say a new system. If that mean a new compressor and dryer then you need one can of oil which you should of already put in the compressor and 42 oz. of 134r freon. Go ahead and buy you the line and gauge which you can pick up just about anywhere like Wal-mart or Auto zone. If you are a do it yourselfer you will need it anyway sooner or later.

  • Evac and recharge in the boonies, 2 # r134 refrigerant.....$150, Downtown D.C. on a 100 degree day....$300..

Where you gettin' it done will determine the price.
