Go ahead and assemble the hardware. Try to boot it. Either it will boot or it won't
If it does, jsut put the new motherboard CD in as it is booting and let it search the new CD as it loads all the drivers.
If it doesn't then boot from your Windows CD and run a repair, then follow the step above.
Good luck!

You've built computers before so you know how to install it physically, so you can handle that. When you install it, the computer will be able to operate like any other new install - poor graphics, no sound, etc. You don't have to reformat your hard drives or anything, just reset up the computer, and install all the drivers for the motherboard and any new hardware that the 'hard drive has not witnessed'. (the drivers are already in the right windows folders for everything else).
You can take hard drives from any computer and put them into another computer, but until you reinstall drivers for new hardware, you won't have full features- that's it, no biggy.

Is the new mother board different or the exact same one? If its the same make and model and the hard drives are ide or sata ; just install the hard drives and it will boot If its a different make and model But and your using ide hard drives keep the hard drives mounted on the old mother board ;uninstall the drivers for the old mother board and install the new drivers for the new mother board Shut down and uninstall hard drives and when your build is complete it will boot the operating system on the new board and all programs will still be intact There is one hitch. Micro soft may recognize it as a new computer and you may have to recertify Neither way do you have to reformat The only time you'll have to reformat is if its a sata drives your using The drivers and comptrolers for raid are in the boot sector and you cant change them with out formatting the drive Unless the sata drivers and comptrollers are the same for both boards then they will boot after you uninstall mother board drivers and install new mb drivers. hope its easy for you to follow It does work

Nah you really wouldnt have to reinstall everything...
of course your going to have to restart the computer several times because itll have to set up the stuff for the new hardware...
now if you changing a vast number of things of the computer now that be a red flag for windows...
then you would have problems...
but go ahead change it ...
Its real exciting experience...
