Losing mail in Microsoft Outlook 2000.?

I had to create a new Pst file due to a corruption problem. However, I forgot about the rules I had set up. Whenever I received a mail that met one of the rules, the message became "lost" I have no clue as to where they went, as the old folders no longer exist. Is there any way to retrieve these messages?

"Lost" messages are normally put into the trash bin folder in the PST file.

These messages can be retrieved out of the trash bin -- as long as you don't permanently empty the trash.

If you setup a rule that moves messages from the inbox to another box that doesn't exist, normally you'll get an error message.

Not at all sure why this would be the case and there is only one fix that I can think of

Download thunderbird (from the same family as firefox) and then import all (settings emails and folders) all existing emails will be in local folders in thunderbird and you'll be able to find your lost ones.

I know this isn't an elegant solution - but at least you'll get thunderbird which is free and rocks!
