Pregnant and on bedrest, am I exaggerating about hospital food making me want to throw up?

I'm twenty-five and seven months pregnant. I've been on bedrest in the hospital for almost over two months due to a short cervix with my pregnancy. The food in the hospital is disgusting and everything smells horrible and is not well cooked. I pretty much been starving myself and my husband and family members think I'm exaggerating about the food here and that I "need" to eat it because it's "healthy" and that it's all mental. Which doesn't seem that way to me. To make it worse I'm a diabetic and receiving insulin as well so I'm pretty much denied everything and am forced to eat substitutions of everything and no sugar whatsoever. I'm getting really depressed over this and feel everyone is not being considerate and helpful. Everyone attacks and suggest I stop complaining and just eat the food because of the baby. But how can I eat stuff that makes me want to puke just looking at it. I am pregnant and hungry. Am I taking things out of proportion? Has anyone else been through this?

I am sorry for you bed rest in hospital . But if your family know how to cook can bring you some home cook food or ask your husband to get you some take- out..

You should ask your husband to bring you some food.. Or ask your family to cook for you... so you can stop eating hospital food.

i have seen hospital food. It doesn't look too good.

or you can ask your husband to bring you some snack for you.

And if your husband does bring food to you can always leave some left over for the next day and have nurse to heat up for you or when your family come visit you.

You can always eat the Jello. they have. but remember you do need milk and iron..

    So hope this help..

Source(s): when my grandpa or grandma was in the hospital my family would bring home cooked food or some take out soup for them to eat. But that was few years back. And when they were sick.

There shouldn't be any reason that you can't eat your own food - as long as its ok as a diabetic. (nothing sugary) If you want your husband to bring you dinner there shouldn't be a problem. You are pregnant, not "sick". Lay a guilt trip on your husband. Tell him if he doesn't get you some real food you are going to go and get it yourself. (total bluff because you can't but it'll get his attention) Talk to your doctor, tell them that you are basically starving because you cannot eat the hospital food. I need food brought in by my family or the baby is going to be in jeopardy due to my being malnourished. Plus my not eating is going to throw my blood sugar and insulin requirements off.

Also, see if you can be on bedrest at home.

NO your not. YOu know what you want and you know what you like and you know what you defintely don't like....I wouldn't eat the hospital food either. They need to stop picking on you and accusing you of such things and get you some good food so you don't starve yourself lol!
