hi Dan a few q,s first

is the tub up or down stairs whats the floor made of and so on

remove bath panel and check floor beneath for rot

if no rot present check that all the bath footings are touching the floor correctly

if the floor has rot then follow steps.

if your good at diy then its not such a bad job

    1) turn off water

    2) remove paneling

    3) disconnect taps and waste pipe

    4) undo any fixing straps screws ect to the bath

and lift out to another room, this gives you room to move.

if you have joists then locate them by removing the rotted area and by measuring the space between them you will get the distance between all of them,

at this stage how much do you want to spend?

i would also check the joists at this stage to make sure they are in good order.

i have just replace my flor in my bathroom and i seen it as more cost effective to replace the whole floor.

Marine ply is the best material

once youve laid the new floor i would advise treating it with a resin mix this seals the boards and the joints.

now do you want to tile or lay linoleum your option but tiles are nicer.

tile or lay lino first up to the walls and seal correctly

then put the bath back if the bath is damaged then replace it.

for an extra few £ or $ ti would advise replacing bath trap and u bends.

whole cost DIY £250/$500 no bath

with bath DIY depends on the bath and you may find you can get a whole suite cheeper than just a bath and it will all match £600/$1200

get a company to do it

    £1200/$2100 no suite

    £2100/$4000 with suite

all tepricing depends on materials choosen and the prices a contractor in your area would charge but the prices above are about average

It sounds like you have a few issues going on there Dan, You have a structural issue probably caused by a poor seal and a rotted bathroom floor. I would pull out the tub, remove the rotted flooring and conduct an assessment to how far you have to go to replace it. If it sinking there could be some real expensive issues. Not a small project by any means. Good Luck

I assume the tub is fiberglass and the bottom of it is sagging. You don't fix it, sorry. You need to replace.

The best you can do as far as fixing a fiberglass tub is to refinish it -- I.E., to put new on coloring and perhaps a skid resistant surface. Yours sounds like it has structural problems.
