It's the "x-th root" button. You can use it to calculate third-roots, fourth-roots, etc.

It might not even have it. I know the ti-83 has it but the ti-89 doesn't have that button. Instead use the 1/3 power. So instead of â8 type:
8^(1/3) to get 2.
To get the nth root of x type:
x^(1/n)
You should get used to this notation with fractional powers anyway as it is important in algebra and calculus.

You're looking for the cube root button. I don't have a picture of the 86 in front of me, however there is an alternative solution. If you still cannot find the button just raise whatever your X is to the 1/3 power. This is the cube root represented as a power.
