When it comes to writing, bad spelling has always been my nemesis.

    b. An opponent that cannot be beaten or overcome.

Nemesis is that which is always one step ahead of you, in reaching your goal. Not always an enemy.

Noun, from the Greek goddess of retribution and punishment.

A nemesis always prevails. The funny thing is, people that have a nemesis, KNOW it's their nemesis, and still can't overcome it, lol.

Every time I decide to diet, lasagna becomes my nemesis.
