If Christianity isn't a religion, as some Christians have claimed, why does it have a tax exempt status?

I have read Christians saying that Christianity is a relationship or a way of life, not a religion. If that's true, then churches should pay taxes.

The church I am with does not have a Tax Exempt Status as in order to do so we would have to give up certain rights. And not preach the whole Truth. The Tax exempt Churches, those with a 501 ( c) 3 status have to agree not to preach against Gays, or Abortion, or any other thing that the Government sets up as its newest Sacred cow belief. We do not allow the Government to use Tax Exemption to coerce us into being a puppet of the state. We serve a Higher Government and to do so we give the Government their share of money. That way they leave us alone and we Preach the Word of God.

Christainanity means to be Christ like, Not to be religious, True Christians are Born Again, & not a denomination, as far as paying taxes, Some churches does, But the law of the land puts many into a section that is exempt from paying taxes.

This site plays alot of tit for tat, Conscrews logic, plays fools games. from both sides it seems to me. The word Christian,

means a believer in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ did not preach religion, He was a messenger and a story teller of His

truth. One can claim to be a Christain, all that tells anyone is that they believe, What they do with that belief is another story. One can call them self a Mother or Father, does not mean they are the perfect parent. Same as wife or husband.

WE come assorted, If some one names a church, Christian

Church and abides by the law, it's a church, as are Baptist,

Lutheran, Catholic, etc. There is no perfect Christian. Jesus did not force him self on any one, it was a choice free will,

"Faith is like love it cannot be forced- Trying to force love

begets hatred- So trying to compel spiritual belief leads to

    unbelief."

It seems to me the waste of energy on R&S is degrading

to both sides of the fence, With out civil logic, fair minded

Q&A, every one on site is a ship of fools. It baffles me why

the bother. It is worse then a stale mate. We are also warned

of false teachers, wolves in sheeps clothes, The Bible is full

of life in general's pit falls of the human race, Christian or non

    Christian. Blessings

you're worry of the day is whether churches should pay taxes? I would LOVE my church to pay taxes. Know Why? We'd get a stronger say in Government and this would be a very different nation. ou would essentially be putting the Pope above the president.

The Christians make donations and in many circumstances in case you upload all up their contributions each and each time they bypass to church, it is extra advantageous than the taxes accrued to them by the government and without economic rebates. people who appreciate tax exemptions are the Christian religions no longer the Christians yet you additionally should seek the place does those donations bypass why they are given such exemptions. they ought to construct perfect and implementing church homes considering has been the very time-honored way why people often bypass and maximum undesirable church homes are seldom attended. See additionally that many activities of church homes are on giving aids to what the government infrequently see except it is going to cater to their political objectives. i'm no longer telling this to no longer impose tax on religious centers yet to tax them on their activities that creates agencies like colleges, shops and different investments.

Christianity is a religion. It is also a relationship and a way of life. I think what they meant is that it isn't JUST a religion.

Of course the answer is really both, Christianity is both a religion in the classic sense, and for those who know and follow Christ, it is the most important relationship they will ever know.

Because the buildings are considered religious institutions. That doesn't change the fact that being a Christian is having a real relationship with the Living God.
