Changing avatar?

I have looked and looked. Can someone please give me verified step by step instructions on how to change my yahoo answers avatar and my 360 avatar?

Update:

I should add that I want to upload my own avatar that I downloaded from the net.

    This will apply to a picture or avatar you want to use

    Make sure that it is the correct size. Upload it to your photo hosting site and then you can add it to your 360

    go here. log in. you have a menu: home - apparel - extras etc. go to each category and choose the picture you like. at the end press save changes in the left.
