Who is the best Nascar driver and why?

Kurt Busch, the guy can flat out drive. He is performing very well, and let's not forget he is a past champion. He has proven he can drive no matter what anyone thinks (he is maybe the most hated driver in all of nascar) And he is a hell of a leader. When you hear him on the radio with his team, he is usually very calm doesn't get rattled easily, and he makes good decisions on the track. Some may be better in certain areas, but if you ask me who the all around best driver in nascar is I think Kurt's the guy.

Jeff Gordon is leading in the points. Has more championships and wins than any active driver.

While other drivers may have more wins, it is a toss up between Mark Martin and Jeff Burton.

Mark Martin.. consistency is key and he's been the most consistent racecar driver in the history of NASCAR. With or without a championship, he gets my vote.

imho: It is still between Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

Jeff Gordon- he wins on speedways, short tracks, road course and everything in between.

He wins in awesome cars, he wins in crappy cars.

I think Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, and (Sigh) Kurt Busch are pretty good too.

Edwards is getting there. Has to master the road course.
