My son is in kindergarten, and his teacher prefers no toys so the past two weeks he's brought books and pictures.. Any other ideas for show and tell?? Thanks for the suggestions! :)

Any kind of postcards from summer vacation, rocks he thought were interesting or could tell a story about, crafts he worked on this summer. I took my daughter to her first Cardinals game last year and saved the ticket, she took the stub, a picture, and the banner in and told about her first game.

Maybe a pet that you might have if the teacher allows it would be exciting for the entire class. Even something to represent a faviote sport-movie-person exc. What about bringing mom / dad in? Maybe save that for career day. There are so many different ways to go about show and tell without bringing toys - try something that you both enjoy. If he likes cooking - why don't you both make a little something together and give treats to the class? Good luck I know you will come up with something.

My little girl hasn't gotten to do show and tell just yet but here are a few ideas.
1. His pet.
2. Favorite food and bring some for the whole class
3. Favorite song or cd
4. Favorite movie, or a video game
5. Sport and bring the ball or if he likes wrestling bring in a poster of his favorite wrestler or sports figure.

- souvenir from somewhere he has been.
- Baseball cards
- Favorite teams hat
- Favorite food/candy (make sure its ok with teacher b/c some kids have allergies)
- stuffed animal
- something cool in his bedroom.
- Something he collects (as a hobby like stamps or coins)
- Something simple he could teach them how to do. (Even pass out supplies to the class, if possible) Like how to make something out of paper ie: paper air plane airplane, paper footballs, those girly finger trap question folding games etc!!
Asked to the teacher for advice. Teachers (good ones) love when parents are involved in kids education. You could even recommend her have themes for the week (like my son had)
Ask your child what some of his friends brought to school that day!! Gives you BOTH ideas and something to talk about together!!
It is meant to be a FUN activity for the children to learn to communicate, social skills, and break the ice. You shouldn't over stress yourself about it because your child will pick up on it also!! Keep it fun!!

Souvenirs from family trips.
Photographs
We lived in the country (in the woods is a better description) for nearly five years. My now 10-yr-old daughter was the lovely child who brought in wonderful discoveries she found lying under the trees: fossils, deer antlers, snake skins, and..... yes.... a bobcat's skull, parts of a large crawfish, the jawbone of a raccoon with teeth attached (at least we think that is what animal it was), and even part of a cowhide that my dog drug into the yard from who knows where.
Well, she was popular with the science teacher, anyway.

and school has only just begun... my son is in preschool with the same dilemma.. I was thinking I might take in his favorite snack on day for the class to share.
maybe a clay sculpture he's made and his pet hermit crab of-course. shark teeth from our trip to Florida....just requires a little more creativity on our parts right?

have him make something. Make a pic of his own or a story he can read to the class. It makes him feel special and also gives him something to show. Good luck
