How much does it cost to buy a cottage these days (in Canadian dollars)?

    It depends where you live... In Mirabel, Quebec, where I live, it is between 200 000$ and 250 000$ for a brand new cottage.

    It *commpletely* depends on what part of Canada.

    In BC's lower mainland and most of Alberta, prices are completely absurd, you're probably looking at a mininum of $300,000. Likely higher, if you want something even a little bit nice.

    Real estate prices are starting to go up in Saskatchewan, but only really in the larger cities; Regina and Saskatoon. In the small towns, though, prices are very nice!

    Here's a bit of a comparison:

    For, say, a nice 3-bedroom house with basement, etc. in Alberta would cost 300K. In a large city in Sask it would cost 120K. In small town Sask, the same house would cost 30K.

    And that's the only part of the country I know about. ^_^

    In parts of Ontario, you can still buy a modest 900 sq foot older cottage with hydro and reasonable access for under $250k.

    The sky is the limit though.
