Ok. Let's take this one part at a time.

The police report: Since it has all the information of both parties on it and both parties are entitled to a copy of the report, there really isn't any conflict with the officer having provided the number to the other person. It was however, inconsiderate of the other party to call you while you were being treated at the ER. I'm sure she KNEW you had been transported for treatment.

Paying for the other car: The officer more than likely cited the other driver if she rear-ended you. The responsible party is generally the one responsible for payment (insured or not) so it's VERY IMPORTANT to get a copy of that police/accident report. Wait 3-4 days and call the office to ask for one.

Other points: If she was cited, or no one was cited, then you are NOT responsible to pay for her vehicle. Only if you are the one deemed responsible or cited. Go ahead and speak with a lawyer. Most all lawyers have a free initial consultation and will advise you if you are in danger of being sued or if you have a case. Be sure to have the accident report with you and also, contact the billing office at the hospital you were sent to and ask for an itemized bill. After all, if she was cited or deemed responsible, then she is also responsible for your car repairs and medical bills resulting from the accident. Unfortunately, if she was also uninsured, it may be a case of error (like with your insurance) or trying to get blood from a turnip.

Good luck and I hope your injuries weren't severe.

Who the police determine was at fault would be the one that would have to pay. If you think it was her fault, take her to court.

Yes, the police can give your number to the other person involved. If you had been able to walk, talk, and so on, you would have had to give that information to her. It is part of the procedure when you get into an automobile accident.

If you can prove in civil court that she was at fault, then she will have to give you the money to fix your car. How's that for getting back at someone who wants to be ugly to you. She knew you went to the hospital in an ambulance, but she was more concerned with her stupid car.
