Aikido, Public Apology?
This isn't a question but rather an apology to anyone I offended because of one of my recent answers.
The question was, "Is Aikido the best martial art?" I went on a long sarcastic, condiscending rant about why Aikido is not the best martial art. My answer was chosen by the asker as best, and his comment below said, "thanks I do Aikido." After seeing that I felt like a real jerk. Then I started thinking, a lot of people who practice Aikido probably saw this and were offended by my @sshole comments.
So for the record, I don't think Aikido is a terrible art. Maybe a bit limited in combat but most practitioners know this already. I'm normally a sarcastic person because that's my sense of humor, but I need to remember that it sounds just plain mean on the internet. So, next time I feel like being critical I'll try to do it in a more tactful and objective way.
Peace,
Rosie

I am thoroughly impressed that you took it upon yourself to apologize so humbly -- what a tribute to what martial art should be!
Thanks - and a star!

No offence taken, but I can tell you first hand that Aikido is very effective in fights things of that nature. I have been taking Aikido for 11 years and currently teaching Shinbu Aikido. The only counter that I would say that Aikido people would have there hands full or to worry about in a fight, is speed im not talking about any oh speed im talking Bruce Lee kind of speed. ( and how many people out there have that kind of speed) But other than that there is pretty much no comp. for it. That is with some one with 4 or more years in the art itself

No problem. I've done Aikido and I can tell you its effectiveness varies greatly, depending on the school and the student. I wouldn't expect a Ki Aikido student to do all that well in an actual confrontation, for instance, since they really just use the physical techniques as a means for ki training, not to learn do the techniques themselves well. In the schools I studied in it was mostly the other way around, or a mix.

I never saw it but wouldn't care if I had. Everyone has views and there great to have. Don't feel like you need to apologize for your views, regardless as to what they are. I do Aikido and I understand those who think Aiki is fake or sucks. I know I feel the same about other arts and I am not sorry I feel that way and speak my mind about it. Anyway it was very adult of you to get up here and do that though. Thanks.

Much respect for you to stand up and say "i was wrong"... Here's the deal... many bad Instructors of any good martial art will tell their students all the so called weaknesses of another martial art (while having limited knowledge of the art they teach.. much less ANY knowledge of the art they ridicule)... and then their students start to pop off this non-sense about another art.... this behavior only shows immaturity.... My advise to everyone... unless you have studied a particular martial art for more than 4 years, you have no business commenting on its effectiveness.... Just my input, I ramble too much... again much respect to you for finding you own mistake... some go a lifetime without recognizing themselves while ridiculing others...

Aikido sucks. Can't use it on the street or the ring. Better off in the circus or Broadway.
