It depends on what you are using the system for and how well you have maintained in it the past. Also, what are you looking to upgrade? The OS, add more RAM, etc??

This is still a good computer. Leave XP on it for the OS, and upgrade the RAM to 1GB or more. If you take the trouble to clean off programs you are no longer using, get rid of spyware, etc. this unit should last you for a while.

If it was me, I'd only upgrade if I was wanting to run a game or something like that which can push a computer pretty hard.

You can upgrade the Dell Dimension 8200 up to 2GB of rambus memory. RAM is your cheapest, easiest upgrade, so I'd consider adding another 512MB or 1GB to your system and keeping it for a while.

Well, the 1.9Ghz is as fast as most laptops today. I would recommend upgrading the ram to the max that's allowed. Probably 1gb or 2gb. Some systems have a 4gb max. That's the best upgrad you can do.

That should keep your system good for browsing the web and doing some minor graphic stuff. If you want to play games then it's time to upgrade to something with over 3gb, 2gb of ram, a 250gb hard-drive and a stellar graphics card.

It depends on what you want to do with it. That system should be fine for normal computer use such as word processing, email, internet, etc. If you want to play games or do video editing and such, then yes you should upgrade. I wouldn't bother upgrading that computer, but rather you should just get a new one. It will be cheaper in the long run.

    1. Go to the Dell website and look up the technical specs for you machine. It will specify the exact type of memory you require. 2. The comment made about reloading windows -- BUL%*&(T. What's he on? Memory upgrades have no effect whatsoever on the operating system!

no i would buy a new one. keep that one as a server or use it as a lab rat for downloads your not sure about.
