vibration when braking my honda accord (2002)?
i get a vibration when i apply my brakes mostly at high speed at also mostly when i press my brakes slightly. if i apply my brakes strongly (hard stop) it doesnt vibrate. i have the rotors replace with the brakes though the vibration reduced it was still noticeable. i took it back to the shop and they told me that the rotors though new sometimes need to be resurfaced. so i got them resurfaced but yet i still fell the vibrations slightly. What else can be wrong with my car. its a 2002 honda accord se
I did not have the rear ones fixed i only replaced the front ones. i did fix them becase the repair shop said they were still okay. by the way they are drums

Although this is unlikely, you may have a worn tie rod end or thrust arm bushing. Also, the car may have been in a collision which can cause steering/vibration problems. As a starting point, I would recommend Genuine Honda OEM brake rotors and pads.
Some inexperienced shops are known to over torque the lug nuts on Honda's. The lug nuts on the 2002 Accord only require about 80 lb-ft of torque to properly secure the wheel to the hub. If the lug nuts were improperly tightened with an impact wrench, your wheel may have been distorted further causing a vibration. You can have the wheels retorqued, but they may have permanent damage and could need replaced. Finally, have your wheels checked to ensure they are not bent or out of balance.

hey i had the exact same problem with my car. IT'sa quick and easy fix. YOu have shot brake rotors. Does the steering wheel vibrate really hard? if so you have shot rotors. it cost me 85 bucks to replace them and no problem. so just have ur dealership or a car lot check it out.

My car also does this I have spent 100's figuring out what the deal is replacing this and that even to the extreme of redoing all 4 brakes in all 4 wheels two disk two drum and nothing......untill I cahnged the tires ! here it was broken belts inside the treds that was causing this

I would be looking at the rear brakes. Check carefully that you don't have a small brake fluid leak or perhaps a brake shoe not properly installed. check that the required springs are in place. You must have an honest mechanic if he didn't sell you rear brakes. Better hang on to him. Hard to find.

I think the first answer probably was right - warped rotor. It may be possible to have the rotor turned at a brake shop or machine shop to solve the problem, but really rotors are cheap so replace them is likely both better and simpler anyway.

resurfacing rotors doesn't always fix the problem especially if the shop that resurfaced didn't do it to exact specifications. Buy new rotors chances are your rotors are still warped.

Do a wheel alignment(obviously in the front only) and balancing(all tyres)..

Did you get the back ones done also, are the back ones drums.... if drums they might be warped, get them cut as well.
