My 8 month old daughter.............?
............is a really good sleeper. However, recently she has started to flip herself onto her front when asleep. She has also started waking during the night again. She's not hungry but she just gets herself into weird positions and ends up waking herself up because of it. My first question is is it safe for an 8 month old baby to sleep on her front, and how can I stop her being so mobile and waking herself (and me!) up during the night?
Thanks in advance :o)

Yes, she's safe so long as she can always lift her own head and face out of the mattress and blankets. My twins love to inchworm along the bed all night.
She's probably waking now because she's learning to walk or crawl, and wants to practice constantly. You might get some relief from wrapping her in a blanket.
I also found that wearing my twins out royally before trying to nurse them to sleep got them to sleep longer and wiggle less.

It is fine for her to sleep on her stomach at 8 months old. The only time this isnt ok is when the baby is too small to move her own head to prevent herself from suffocating. Some babies tend to flip themselves all over their bed at night when they sleep, my son was the same way. I did what people shouldnt do and I let him sleep with me in my bed and he quit. You will probably just have to deal with her doing that. She is too big to do anything else.

Well it is time for her to start being more mobile in her sleep. Although now you have to worry about her possibly sleeping with her face buried in the bed, it is normal. Just be patient with her and try to position her again into a safer and more comfortable position. My cousin's baby loved to sleep with his butt up in the air at that stage, just make sure there is nothing in her breathing path and she should be fine. :)

No, I don't recommend that you allow her to sleep on her stomach. It impedes the baby's breathing to a certain extent. You can try swaddling her. Use a swaddling blanket. You can get those at Wal Mart for next to nothing. It soothes the baby and stops them from moving around so freely.
