My daughter and her husband recently purchased a house and we went over to help them move and clean. The patio door was full of gunk and when you add water and soap - it becomes like sludge.
We purchased a ZEP degreaser and cleaner at the HOME Depot. Used at full strenght no dilution, the cleaner dissolved the gunk and sludge and we wiped it up easily with rags. Try it with your windows, the cleaner is safe on all surfaces.

Try some hot soapy water and a scrub brush or a plastic scraper. Once you get all that off rinse well and clean with vinegar and water, newspaper. Good Luck! :)

Scrub brush and ammonia, rinse. Then go over it with Windex and lint free paper towels.
