Driving to Disney World from Texas?

We have always flown before, but now I have two old enough to assist in the driving and map reading. I want to drive over and get close enough to Disney World to where we can get up and drive the moring to the hotel, and go to the park at openning. ( arrive around 8:30) We would problably stop in Orlando for the night, but I want a place close by, any suggestions:

Assuming that you'll be coming across Florida on I-10, then heading south on I-75 & the Turnpike, head south on Toll Road 429.

You can exit onto US192 (that's the main drag through Kissimmee) and stay at the Meridian Hotel Orlando ( http://www.resideo.com/us/florida/kissimmee/793824... ) - it's just a few miles from the main Disney World entrance. The rooms are small, but the rates are very economical and they offer free breakfast -- can't be beat.

If you get in early enough, head over and spend some time at Downtown Disney, or take in some of the local attractions in Kissimmee.

    Have a great trip!

Hello. We stayed at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites in Orlando. That would be ok if you have your own care. We had to take shuttles and it didn't work out well. We had a suite that was supposed to be for 5 people, but it wasn't adequate for 2 adults and 3 kids. If you stay there, ask for a corner room. I think there are 14 of those rooms, and they would be better.
