How can I help myself to be more attentive to details?

I am in sales and score very high on all the sales aptitude tests and miserably low in "paperwork". I truly try hard to fill out the estimtates, work orders correctly but am making mistakes that can be costly. My clients themselves don't always check things so I need to be doubly careful. I made myself a "quality control" check list which I'll start on Mon. I share an assistant with other sales people and she is very good. BUT she's getting stressed with mistakes we all are making.

Update:

the income is good, I like what I do, mistakes can affect my income. concentration not the solution.

Ask the assistant to tell you the common mistakes that are being made by all of the team.

Then write these down on your checklist and read the checklist every morning and evening until the points on the list become second-nature.

concentration .....think of what you're doing as if it was for yourself ..... unless you're a multi millionaire you probably couldn't afford your mistakes ..... you couldn't afford your mistakes if you were being financially penalised for each one either .... so, use your checklist and give each mistake a value - then keep a chart of how much you would have cost yourself - and potentially how much it will cost you if you lose your job ..... or if the customer decided to sue and you were held personally responsible .....

bottom line really is that you are no longer enjoying your work and so are making mistakes .... get out as soon as you can and find something different or better .....
