Does the envelope of a hand-written thank you note need to be hand-written?
I understand why it's considered tacky to send a thank you note by email, or to even type one up. But I've read that it's considered tacky and impersonal to type the address on envelope, either by running the envelope thru the printer or using an address label.
Do you agree with this? Say you send a gift to a bride and groom, and receive a timely thank you note. Would you be offended if your address was typed on the envelope? I wouldn't be offended in the slightest.
I really dislike addressing envelopes and send all letters with typed envelopes. But if lots of people consider this tacky and offensive, I may need to reconsider...

Use a label to address the thank you cards.
1. It is in NO WAY tacky or rude to use a label.
2. The Postal Service can read printed out labels better than handwriting.
So type it, print it on a label or on the envelope if you wish.
I would not give how someone did a thank you card to me any thoughts "I cannot believe she didn't hand write our names, what a nerve!" HAH...
Go ahead and print it out.

Yes, it's considered impersonal to type or label address thank you cards.
I don't know that I would actually take the time to look and see if my address was typed on or hand written, but I know some do.
Really it's a personal call. I went ahead and took the time to hand write mine. Personally, I thought it looked pretty presumptuous on my part to have a typed up Thank you card envelope. It's almost like you're expecting the gift.

Offensive? Seriously? I think it's better to hand write it especially since the thank yous themselves are hand written, but not the end of the world. And anyone who is OFFENDED by this has too much negative energy floating around them. Do whichever feels and works best for you and don't stress the small stuff so much.
Good luck and Congrats.

Typing the envelope sort of voids the hand-writing of the envelope and it could come off as though you had expected the present.
Have your husband handwrite the envelope and you can write the card.

I'm currently in the middle of writing out all of my Thank You notes. When I think about the time I spend hand writing the card, whats 10 seconds more to write out the address on the envelope?
I like my guests to know that I've spent time on them for such a wonderful gift and for their attendance. And if they couldn't make it, for keeping my husband and I in their thoughts.
Really? Is it that much more of a nuisance?

If I got a personal thank you note, and the envelope was typed, I wouldn't bat an eye, in all honesty.

An extra effort wont do any harm my dear.. ;p
It wld look more personalized if the address is also hand written considering the fact that it may give them the notion that you took extra time to let them know how thankful you are for their presence.

Do handwrite it. It's just another personal touch that shows how much the gift meant.
