The Three Penny Opera by Brecht and Piscator is a modern adaptation of a Restoration musical. It is famous for the song, Mack the Knife.. It is so called because it is supposed ly put on by a bunch of street people who only had 3 pennies to spend on it. It is a classic musical of the modern theatre, not a full-blown opera.
