Why can't the McCanns just do lie detector tests?
This would clear the matter up pretty quickly wouldn't it?

If lie detector tests really worked would every country not use them when someone is on trial?

No since a lie detector is not admissible in court. A person can beat a lie detector test and is only as good as the person who gives it, and the person who is taking the test. I used to work for a company doing internal auditing and security for loss prevention. We used to give each other lie detector tests.

Well, I guess because a lie detector is not admissible in court. But, still, if I were innocent I would still want to take one to at least prove to the public that I was telling the truth. My guess is that if they don't want to take one, then they probably think that they would fail it. The same reason that Jon Benet Ramsey's parents refused to take one, I think that they were guilty as well, but they got away with it. They were also two parents who were very rich and respected within the community. Money can get anyone out of anything these days it seems. And that is a damn shame.

They heard the Mccann supporters say lie detectors don't work, some one should tell the police, think of the time and money saved...

Why can't people answer without their own little retort of abuse for these people.
Lie detectors are not admissible so therefore pointless. Someone has already asked this question and was told the same thing.
As far as I am aware they are only used on shows like Jeremy Kyle and similar.

The law does not recognise lie detector test result in the UK. Not sure about Portugal.

Well of course they could, but they wouldn't want to. They failed to reply to over 40 questions so why did they do that???????
The people should have a say whether they take the polygraph test or not, that would end all this. After all if they are innocent they have nothing to fear as the polygraph is 99.9% accurate and so they could clear themselves if they think they could.

There's no point. Lie detector test results are not admissable in Portuguese courts.

A lie detector is not a very reliable source. They are not guaranteed to be accurate.
