Does this sound mean? What would you do?
I just recently asked a question regarding my female cat in heat. I called her current Vet, the one she has her appointment with, and he again said I should wait. I called 2 more reputable vets that I have either gone to before or my family and both I can’t get her in until next week. I went ahead and made the appointment since it is one week sooner than her last appointment, But as much as I hate how this sounds, Can I keep her in a kennel until this time? I have a quite large kennel for a dog that she sleeps in most of the time and feels comfortable in it. Since she is spraying at the moment, can I put her litter box and toys and such in there while I am at work or sleeping and such? It is a quite large kennel so she will have a bunch of room. I just don’t want her peeing all over the carpet and my clothes until I can get her in to get spayed?
Just a Note: I am a huge animal lover and ALL of my cats are strictly indoors and all get spayed or neutered.

if you have a big kennel for her I would see no harm in her staying in it until she's fixed.
Cats spraying/peeing on everything is no fun. I'm sure your cat will survive a week living in a nice big kennel. Just pay her a little attention once in a while and she should be ok.

Hey,
Im a huge animal lover as well, but having your cat spraying all thru your house and on your belongings is gross.
Firstly, you need to figure out why your female cat is spraying, as this is a relatively unusual for female cats to do... ie, is she stressed etc? I know she is in heat, is this the cause? Was she spraying before being in heat?
I personally dont see a problem with your cat sleeping outside in the kennel, your doing heaps to make sure she is comfortable... however, just be aware that putting at cat outside in heat means, that every tom cat in your area will be on your lawn howling at her, and spraying on everything in your yard... your cat will be jumped by everyone.
But if you can handle that, then by all means keep her outside. Cats naturally are outdoors anyways, so dont feel bad about a few days out side. I bet you will spending lots of time out there with her!!!!
I hope you dont think Im being rude, I was just pointing out a few things...
Good luck!

When an animal has to stay at a Vets office they stay in a kennel. So no problem being you have a very nice large one for her. There is nothing more horrible then the smell of cat pee. And it doesn't come out !!!!!!! But being spayed may not solve the problem.

I personally wouldn't. Can you contain her to an area of the
house? Do you have 2 bathrooms or more in your home? The bathroom would be a good idea because it would give her enough room to move around and you could also fit her toys and littler box in there easily. You could even put the litter box in the tub. If she did spray it would be easy to clean up in a bathroom as most bathrooms do not contain carpet.
If not is there a spare bedroom in your home?
If you're kinda stuck the kennel wouldn't be bad, as long as theres enough room in there. Think of pets at like the SPCA, they stay in small cages with their litter, food and toys. I don't think it would be mean to keep her in there, it'd just be nice for her if there was an alternative.
Good luck!

Actually, your idea doesn't sound mean at all. It makes alot of sense. People with dogs put them in their kennels while the owner is at work and think nothing of it. I certainly don't think it would hurt your cat, esp if she has all she needs for the day. That way you would actually be training her to go into the kennel without her getting upset and you don't have to worry about what's going on at home while you're away. Think how excited she'll be to see you and be 'out' when you get home. Also, if you ever travel with your pet, she'll be ready for the trip.

Do it. If the kennel is large enough for a dog then it is definitley large enough for a cat. I would do so until you come home and let her run around, but whether you are at home or not she is going to spray so I would keep a good eye on her.

It does sound a little mean because I am a huge animal lover, but I understand where your coming from. I've had cats all my life and the smell of cat urine is rancid! I wouln't want my house smelling like that. As long as you play with her and give her some attention throughout the day, I think it's fine. It's only a week, anyway. She'll forget all about it after the surgery.

This may be good for her. Being in heat can be very stressfull for your cat, and she could injure herself being loose in the house. She may try breaking out of screened windows, or running past closing doors trying to get outside to find a mate. Keeping her confined won't stop the behaviour, but it may give you some peace of mind about where she is, and what she is doing... and keep her safe in the mean time. Make sure she always has clean litter, toys, and fresh food and water.

i am a huge animal lover 2 so keeping in a kennel wont hurt it like u said it was a big kennel just put a bowl of cat food (dry) in it and put some pillows and blankets and toys in it and it will be fine

It shouldn't be a problem if you only keep her there during those times. But make sure you give her plenty of attention when you can b/c she'll think you're mad at her! As for the spraying, she may continue to do that after spaying her, but the odor will subside after time. Good luck!!
