Can you figure it out and tell me how you got it?
this is what i got as an answer...
6 + y = 2
-6 - 6
y = -4

you're right!
6+y=2
minus 6 both sides
y=-4
you can always check it by plugging the value you've gotten, y=-4, back into the equation. If the left and right side are equal, then the solution is correct
Check:
6+(-4)=2
6-4=2
2=2

you are on the right track Grace!
you can subtract 6 from both sides to get
y= -4 like you did.
Another way to look at it is move the 6 to the right of the equal sign and flip its sign like this:
y = 2 - 6
y = -4
