Epson CX5000 rejecting generic ink. Anyone have a workaround?
For years have been using generic inks. This almost-new printer will not accept - power light flashes - ink-out light is on. Have removed cartridges and unplugged in order to reset. Still won't work. Supposed to call a not-toll-free number for a return authorization. Anyone else have this problem?

This resetter will not work for the cx5000. The chip on those cartridges has 9-pins. That resetter only resets the 7-pin chips.
No resetter available for the 9-pin chip (yet)
Source(s): bought from 3 different sources, claiming compatibility with 9-pin chip, none worked - Anonymous5 years ago
nAs long as you find a good generic ink you should have no problems. As a general rule, refiling an Epson cartridge is always a bad idea, you want to go with a brand new third party ink cartridge. Only buy from a store with a 100% guarantee and read installation instructions carefully as they may differ from the epson OEM cartirdge. Epson printers do have an integrated print head so you do want to take extra care of the printer especially when using a third party cartricge. Run a print head cleaning once per month, more if you are not using hte printer frequently.

You need a gadget that resets the cartridge itself (it has an internal chip that counts down the cartridge life based on usage).
These gadgets are very cheap and easy to use. Search in eBay, and you will find many suppliers. Here is an example:
