Will Bernie Williams go to HOF?

His regular season stats while very, very good won't blow you away. Will his being at or near the top in so many post season batting categories get him in?

As a Red Sox fan, I tend to not like many Yankee players. One of the few exceptions is Bernie Williams. I've always respected him.

Good player, great clutch player, but has no realistic chance at the Hall. He just doesn't have the numbers for an outfielder.

I am a HUGE Bernie Williams fan. He was a great Yankee and a great ballplayer. I'm not sure if he's going to be in the HOF though. Batting average wise he is there, but he doesn't have the glamorous homerun or RBI numbers other outfielders in the HOF have. Do I think Bernie should be in the HOF? I sure do because the man turned it up in the postseason and had a knack for coming up with the big hit. That being said, I doubt he will make the HOF.

Sadly, Bernie is one of those in between players.

He's always been way better than the average player, but not a big superstar like some. He's a good enough player where he can be an All-Star every year and even gold glover. But he just doesn't have that stuff that will blow you away or over impress you.

I think he deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame one day, because he has better stats than some already inducted players but there are a bunch of people who are better than him that deserve to be in before him.

His post season stats SHOULD help him. He was a post season regular and a VERY good player. He had something to do with those Yankee teams being very good, too, and he wasn't a free agent pick up but a Yankee product. You read here all the time about so and so not going in because he never played a World Series, yet Bernie, like Reggie Jackson before him, had a lot to do with Bernie GETTING into the Series. Yeah, he ought to go in.

I do not think he will be in the HOF. He was an slightly above average player on a team the just happened to be terrific. If he putup the same numbers in lets say Pittsburg, no way he makes it. He had some good post seasons, but my 9 years old sister has a better arm then bernie. Go Angels!

Bernie was a fine player. He should receive no serious consideration for the Hall.

There are 404 players with a higher Black Ink score, and there are 399 with a higher Grey Ink score.

He is most similar over his career and year by year to ZERO HOF members.

His post season numbers do not acutally help him. In the World Series, his BA/OBP/SLG is .208/.319/.358.

Those are not clutch. They are not good. His overall postseason numbers are .275/.371./480.

Compare that Reggie Jackson in the WS: .357/.457/.755. Those are “clutch” numbers.

the alterations between Mattingly and Puckett are they performed diverse positions (1B are envisioned to hit the ball extra effective than CFs) and their submit season success. Puckett has 2 jewelry and did nicely in the submit season. Puckett additionally grow to be nonetheless preforming on the top of his occupation while he have been given injured whilst Mattingly's final 6 years weren't something super. i think of a extra effective evaluation to Mattingly might desire to be Gil Hodges, a boderline HOF it particularly is purely on the outdoors. If Mattingly can get a supervisor interest and win a international championship then that would desire to be sufficient to get him in with the veteren's committee. to this point as Bernie Williams is going, he grow to be a nicely-liked and stable participant for various years yet a million batting call and no actual 5 MVP years are no longer deserving of the hall of popularity.

If there was a "Hall Of The Very Good" he would make it. However his numbers, as good as they are, are not hall of fame caliber. I personally would like to see him go in because he was a class act for his entire career. A batting title and 4 World Series rings go in his favor but still not enough.

I don't think so. Bernie was/is a Hall of Fame human being, but not a Hall of Fame ballplayer. He was a very good ballplayer, but he wasn't even a dominant player in his own time. Just being a Yankee doesn't qualify him for the Hall of Fame.

No, I do NOT believe he will make the Hall of Fame, because although he is a very good ball player, there are others with better stats.
