When a stadium is used for more than one sport, how are the marking lines removed to change the pitch?

The lines must be water resistant in case it rains, so they can't be just washed off. So how are they obliterated to make, say, a rugby pitch where there was a soccer pitch before?

    they hire 50 midgets to paint over them with green paint

    They cut the grass! Have you never noticed at these stadia, if they play football very shortly after rugby you can still see the markings?

    They use something because you can sometimes see the other

    lines.Had my brain going back to school days(used to have a

    few pitches, running tracks in them days)But can't remember how it was done.A good question though.
