How do I get black ink off of my carpet?

My dog chewed an ink pen and got ink all over my brand new carpet!!

Update:

Please no lectures on how my dog got an ink pen. It's not like I don't feel bad enough about it. She's fine, though, FYI.

I hope you have another pen of the same type, because you'll need to find out whether it's 'waterproof' ink or 'water-based' ink.

If it's 'waterproof' ink, you'll need to pour some turpentine on the ink, then cover it with a 'folded newspaper' and let it 'sit' for half a day, then take a sponge and press down to 'soak up' the turpentine and ink (DO NOT SCRUB) then put some more turpentine down and call a professional carpet cleaner.

If it's 'water based' ink you should use a 'foam' of 'carpet cleaner and water' and SOAK the carpet, cover it with a folded newspaper, leave it for at least three hours, then come back and 'scrub' ... it may take two to four cleanings to get all of the black ink out (depending on how 'light' your carpet is) but you can do that by yourself. And keep an eye on your dog ... dogs should NOT be allowed to 'chew' on pens ... they could 'swallow' parts and have to have 'surgery' or even die ...

Try those recommendations indexed by means of HP. white material: If ink from a HP Inkjet print cartridge spills to your apparel, use chlorine bleach and bloodless water to take away the stain. Color material: Ink from such a lot HP print cartridges must wash out with sudsy ammonia and bloodless water. They recommend contacting HP Customer Care for different materials. I believe they might have exclusive suggestions relying on whether or not the ink is dye-established or carbon black-established. Of path, that is assuming you are utilising an HP ink cartridge.

Try using WD40 and see if that works...or just try one of those oxyclean sprays.
