What do you think about enjoying Christmas without giving any presents?

I think it is quite silly to learn that some people are still paying for last year's Christmas. Was it worth it? What are your views?

I sometimes wish presents weren't even given at Christmas. Maybe odd little trinkets or something very special, but giving loads and loads of gifts that you can't afford and the person doesn't need is rather a waste. Like I said before, I think something very small or very special would go a lot further than most of the presents given nowadays.

I prefer the activities, the songs, the atmosphere, the family, and all of that stuff. Presents just don't affect me as much as they seem to affect other people.

Yes, you could do this and not give anyone a present. It's how you feel about yourself and others. Is someone worth being given a gift? No. Then you just don't bother to do so. However, if you like another person and wish to extend some thoughtful gift to them, you may do that. It's all up to you. Frankly, I believe in giving gifts to those that I know will appreciate them. This might occur all the year through. The definite thing that I would do is, NOT purchase so much, that I had a "payment commitment" all the year long. That I truly believe, would be silly. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

Our policy at our house is if you cant pay cash now, then you really don't need it. It is totally ridiculous to go in debt giving gifts. We buy a house gift for everyone such as a new tv , couches or a new roof (last years gift) etc.... then we set a budget such as $100 per child (our kids only) a small gift for each of us, then thats it besides cards and maybe pictues of the kids sent to friends and relatives. Doing this we have never once gone in debt over Christmas. We then make a few phone calls to family out of state on Christmas to let them kno that we are thinking of them.

I agree, I thing people are getting to raped up in the hole new thing out in stores and forget what this time is all about. That is why me and my kids are giving to a child who needs something more than us. If I had it my way they would not get but one this for Christmas and would give to others. I think it is good to give gifts but I don't think we should go crazy with it and brake the bank to get all the new things out there. A good idea for you, how about try the hole its the thought that counts. Make gifts for others, even if it is only a ornament or something like that. Good luck

I think it's a fine idea. The best Christmases when I was younger consisted of inviting all our family and friends over to sing and play carols and make cookies. I got presents over the years that wore out and got outgrown and thrown away, but the things I remember most fondly were the activities.

Personally for me Christmas is not about presents and going into debt. My family has decide that instead of buying gifts for each other that we would go on a family vacation. gifts last only so long, but memories last forever.

I get presents all year long from my man so I really don't care about what I get for Christmas. As long as my Son is happy then I'm Happy.

Presents are nice of course, but people loose the message of why we give them and what Christmas is all about. Giving should not be overdone or superficial. It should be meaningful and thoughtful.

I agree. Most people spend WAY too much and have nothing to show for it except lots of bills. It's ridiculous as far as I'm concerned.
