How do I get cooked, hardened grease off a black stove?
I have a black Kenmore stove that over time has built up rock hard grease cooked onto the stove top around the removable burner units. that I have tried degreasers, etc. to get off. I can't use a knife or scratcher or anything like that to scrape it off because it will scrape the finish off. Can you use an oven cleaner on black enamel? Any other cleaner suggestions?

The enamel process should be tough enough to withstand oven cleaner. Spray and let it sit for a few minutes. I use oven cleaner on my enameled grates.
We also recommend magic eraser.

You can use oven cleaner on enamel. and if your real careful you can use a brand new razor blade to break it off with with out scratching the surface. You can also buy some liquid cleaner called Awesome at the dollar store. Its great on grease clean ups.

Have you tried Greased Lightning Orange Blast? It is back by the automotive section. It is a concentrated degreaser that I haven't had a problem removing anything with. It will not hurt the finish.

add a little warm water , just enough to cover the stain, now add 1 tablespoonful of baking powder/soda . Leave for 10 min´s and the stain should lift out. Also works great for those burnt pot´s and pans. anything that has been burnt on and hard to remove . Once the stain is lifted sponge with hot soapy water and rinse well. PS. just remember warm water not hot

por boiling water on your stove and let it sit for like 20 mins with maybe a little dish soap.. If that doesn't loosen it up then I don't think anything will work. Sorry.
