My dogs vomit often, is this normal?
I have two pomeranians, a one year-old and a 10 year-old, and each one throws-up at least once a month, sometimes more. I regulate their food intake to the correct daily serving sizes and very rarely feed them human food (if I do it's usually just chicken and there seems to be no correlation to them getting sick from this).
I thought maybe they were eating some of the plant life in my back yard and that was causing the problem, the one year-old chews up sticks and whatever else he can get a hold of. However, the 10 year old never chews on anything and she still vomits as often as the young one.
Is this fairly normal? I'm obviously concerned for their health but I'm also getting sick of the disgusting clean-up and the unsightly stains.
Thanks

Hello Fellow Pom Owner
My Poms do the same as they are constant groomers and they are like cats they cannot digest the hair they are ingesting and so they are vomiting it up
I am owned by 5 Poms and Thank Goodness mine have the common respect to rush out there doogie door when they feel it coming on
I closely monitor mine to make sure what is coming up Gross I know but I love my Pups and if it was anything out of the ordinary we would be loaded up and on the way to the Vet
But to answer Your Question Yes it is somewhat normal but I Would question your Vet next time you have to pay them a visit
Good Luck to You

I'm not a dog expert but I do own a dog. Chewing on things are somewhat normal with dogs. However the vomiting sounds more concerning. Vomiting can be the result of different things. I suggest you call your local vet to get the right advise about your concern. Good luck...

Once a month I would put in the category of maybe normal, though it never hurts for you to take them in for their annual check-up and ask the vet about it.
Something upsets one of dog's stomach's once in awhile and they seem to vomit much more easily than people do. We have gotten good at reading the signs and getting the dog outside (my male will run to the door). I get concerned if they have other symptoms of abdominal distress or vomit more than once or twice in a given day.

Firstly take them to a vet. You would for a child if you had a concern right? My dog throw up occasionally also but he also doesnt eat sticks. You will get the best answer from your vet.

There's always a reason why my dog vomits. Like she ate something gross.
I'd take them to the vet, and keep an eye on them for the time being. If they are eating something, try to catch them at it and then you'll know what it is!

Regular vomiting is not normal. It wouldn't be normal for a human to vomit once a month. I suggest taking them to the vet and discussing with them

Do you give them rawhides? My dog was getting sick from rawhides, so that could be a possibility. But like everyone else I would take them to the vet and make sure there is no serious problems.

What kind of food do you feed them?? That is probably the issue. Many foods have ingredients that are not healthy for your dog at all. It is not normal for a dog to vomit that often.

maybe he has a secret drinking problem.
I'm not trying to make light of it, just trying to lighten up the situation, I would take the dog to the vet to see if there are stomach problems or an infection or something.

um it might just be them eating grass dogs usually throw up this but i would still take them to the vet it could be serious but then it could be nothing.
