How do you choose a personal symbol?

I need to choose a personal symbol for my world religions class... But I have no clue what to choose! Literally, I have NO ideas. How would someone choose a personal symbol?

Make a list of all of the things that describe or are meaningful to you. If you love the outdoors, perhaps a certain plant or animal will work for you. If you have a hobby that you spend alot of time doing, you could use a symbol from that. Hope this helped.

Dig deep into your psyche and innermost core of your heart... there you will find the "thing" that pleases you most. It could either be animate or inanimate, material or abstract, something you have seen, or something imagined. And whatever it is that fancies you at this stage of your life --whether singly, or as a combination thereof-- then that object, word, or imagery will translate to symbolize YOU.

    Hence it's called "personal".

    Peace be with you.

My symbol is a heart with a saturn ring around it and 2 paw prints, sometimes i put an arrow in the heart. Its what i doodle when i am bored.

I dont mind if you use mine.

it's best to go with something that appeals to you, something you find interesting or that you think represents you. for example, someone who is devoutly christian might choose a cross or someone who loves nature may choose a tree. sorry if i'm not much help.

  • For me, I'd use my totem animal as my personal symbol, and I learned my totem animal through meditation and introspection.
