Do you believe in what you believe in?

I've seen answers from atheists accusing Christians of "not really believing."

I've seen answers from Christians accusing atheists of "actually believing, but won't admit it."

So my question to everybody is, do you actually believe in what you actually believe in, or are you just trying to psyche out/antagonize the other side?

Update:

bad logic intentional

Update 2:

Do you believe that other people really believe in what they really believe in?

I believe that to believe in what you believe in that one must first believe that he knows the basics of the beliefs that he believes in and that what the other guy believes in might not be the case because that persons beliefs might not be right because he doesn't believe what he believes because he doesn't know the fundamentals of his beliefs.

I believe that to be the case

And it is my believe that is the answer you are looking for

    I believe

    Did I make myself clear?

    I believe I did

Hmmmm...yes. I really do believe in whom I believe in. I've asked a variant of this question. I asked if people (Christians) understood what it meant "to believe" in something or someone (God, a good friend, a family member, etc), and the answers I got were outstanding. As for antagonizing the other side, they atagonize themselves. Think about it: how totally assinine is it to argue against something you already don't believe in? I'm anti-gay, but you'll never see me in the GLBT section arguing with them about anything concerning their idea of belief in what they do. I could care less about them. Some people are just ignorant enough to not realize where they're neither wanted, nor needed. It's like showing up uninvited to someone's house at dinner time. It's like, go the hell away you pest before I break out the Raid.

I am an atheist and I do not accuse any christian of not believing what they believe. I doubt many atheists will accuse any christian of "not really believing." I have not seen such a claim from atheists here.

Granted some christians want to believe that atheists "really believe in god but won't admit it." That's just silly and immature.

I do believe in what I believe in.

I believe everyone believes what ever it is they believe and as long as no one is hurting anyone else it's all good.

Some of the things that get said here can be hurtful because some people take what is being said personal instead of being objective.

I have no desire to antagonize anyone nor psyche them out.

I believe in God and that all he wants for us to do is love one another, sounds simple enough yet we all fail miserably at doing so.

To some, yes. There are people murdering others and blowing themselves up because they "Believe" it is what thier God asks them to.

There are also those who say things like "there is no god, or devil, or heaven or hell"

I myself BELIEVE that such statements are made to self-justify. If there is no God to answer to, then there is no true consequnce to your actions. I have questioned my beliefs many times. I think that questioning is the only way to truly know the truth.

I may never know the exact truth of what/who is out there or if when we die that's all there is, but to have faith in something is a comfort.

Yes, I believe that there is a God and that everyone including myself, will know the whole truth.

My Children this is why you cannot live in the boundaries of Earth to begin with, The Earth is a closed system, with need of physical harmonic balance. where as the mind of mankind is infinite, in Imagination. Christ is coming soon for behold, I see a pale rider. You getting all this, go to my 360 running naked with the Gods

My set of beliefs is not what you would consider mainstream. And, it isn't as much a set of beliefs as it is a set of knowledge. I have no interest in antagonizing other's beliefs, regardless of how I feel about them. There are two things we don't discuss with friends...politics and religion...and there are very good reasons for this.

  • I really do believe what I say I believe in, and I have no reason to doubt that other people are the same way.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I actually do believe what I believe with all my heart.

I can't think of any good reason to play games with something as important as eternal death & life.

well being a christian if I didn't believe what I say I believe then I'd be a liar, and liars have no part in Gods kingdom, so .................yes I believe...........and I am more concerned with what God thinks then trying to antagonize others.
